About us

Dirt, Concrete and Doing Both

An earthworks contractor with its own concrete crew, based at Tauwhare just out of Hamilton, working across the Waikato and beyond.

Who we are

One contractor, the whole job

Whether you're building residential, changing your lifestyle block, upgrading your farm or starting a commercial project; Dirt Works Waikato has you covered.

We are an earthworks company that also pours its own concrete, which is less common than it sounds. Most jobs need a digger operator, a drainlayer, a concrete crew and someone with a truck, and most of the delays and most of the arguments happen in the gaps between them.

We close those gaps by doing the lot: excavation from 1.7 to 20 tonne, bobcat sitework with an auto leveller, mulching and clearing, drainage, foundations as Licensed Building Practitioners, and concrete placed and finished by our own crew. The truck and trailer and the Hiab keep all of it supplied.

What that means for you

  • One number. One company is responsible for the base and the slab, so a problem cannot be somebody else's fault.
  • One programme. Nothing waits on a third party's diary, which is usually what turns a two week job into a six week one.
  • Licensed where it matters. We are Licensed Building Practitioners, so foundation work is carried out and signed off by us.
  • We turn up when it suits the job. Nights, early starts, and around milking.

Accredited and supplied

We are the Waikato's only approved Permcon permeable concrete installers, and we run Firth concrete. Both matter more than they sound: permeable concrete solves stormwater problems that would otherwise cost a redesign, and a consistent supplier is why a slab poured in February matches one poured in July.

Where we work

We are based at Tauwhare, east of Hamilton. Day to day that means the Waikato - Hamilton, Cambridge, Morrinsville, Te Awamutu, Matamata, Huntly, Ngaruawahia, Raglan and the farms in between. For larger contracts we travel to Auckland, the Bay of Plenty, Taranaki and North Island wide.
